ION pump for Microchips

This is truly going to change the computing industry .. especially for server farms.
It's awesome .. kind of like the thermoelectric coolers. The temp gradient is pretty impressive .. i wonder how they are going to fix the condensation problem also the comment at the bottom about the pump being able to get clogged seemed interesting ... i do wonder about it.
Quote:
The device, which uses an electrical charge to create a cooling air jet right at the surface of the chip, could be critical to advancing computer technology because future chips will be smaller, more tightly packed and are likely to run hotter than today's chips. As a result, tomorrow's computers will need cooling systems far more efficient than the fans and heat sinks that are used today.

"With this pump, we are able to integrate the entire cooling system right onto a chip," said Alexander Mamishev, associate professor of electrical engineering and principal investigator on the project. "That allows for cooling in applications and spaces where it just wasn't realistic to do before."

Jai Hanuman

When the lesson of virtue and devotion is layered with wholesome adventure and colourful episodes, finding attentive disciples shouldn't be such a problem. And if it happens to come in animation, then the outcome cannot be but entertaining.
I don't know how much today's generation knows about this adorable god, known by various names like Mahaveer, Pavanputra, Maruti, Ramdoot, Anjaniputra,Vayuputra,Hanuman and Bajrangbali. Without trying to sound too smug, I must admit, my generation was clearly better off. Thanks to good old grandma, Amar Chitra Katha comics and Ramanand Sagar's long-running television saga Ra
mayan, we are well versed with Lord Hanuman and his feats of unsurpassable bravery
Whether it was his desire to uproot the sun from the sky mistaking it for a fruit as an infant or putting the golden nation of Lanka afire with his tail, Hanuman's unconventional godliness makes him an eternal favourite. But the triumph lies in the fact that the animation is truly good [it should prove to be a novel experience for Indian moviegoers] and the narrative has the power to keep you hooked to the proceedings for the entire 90 minutes.
On the whole, HANUMAN comes at a time when Bollywood is truly going through a major transition and the moviegoers are ready for challenges. After having watched the animation version, one can only feel proud that at least someone has had the courage to invest time, effort and resources in a project that can easily compete with the West. All said, HANUMAN will appeal to children from 6 to 60.
Overall, I'd say Hanuman is worth a watch, age notwithstanding, not for the animation but its timeless history and absorbing narrative.

WOS - Web OS !!!!!

YouOS is an experiment in a new kind of computing platform. Its still in its alpha stage when i got there. You can view here YouOS
The demo was mind blowing.
I think that it would be smart move for YouOS developers to get somehow Google backing - maybe sell it to Google. (but stay on development)
With Google backing this WOS could develop faster.
Considering all of Google's current offerings. I mean, if you think about it, what Google offerings are currently overpriced? Could Google overprice something like YouOS? Absolutely, but I believe their history shows otherwise. Now, if we were talking about Microsoft, then that would be another story....
I think where something like YouOS would be very, VERY useful to Google would be to provide a slick "launch pad" for its apps. Right now, Google has some excellent applications, but unfortunatly, they are all disjointed and seperate. There's no simple jumping-off point. (with the possible exception of http://Google.com/ig but that still falls shore requiring tweaking.) A "desktop" metaphore with built-in (and that's important), consistent, and tailorable access to all the Google apps would be very nice indeed. (Thus the reason I've been creating and modifying several of those Google application launchers here on YouOS.) Just keep it in the "Google philosophy" of lean, fast, and simple to use. I personally think something like YouOS has these elements in place.

Top 10 Dumbest

10 dumb ideas... millions of dumber people that made these ideas a hit..

1. Million Dollar Homepage
1000000 pixels, charge a dollar per pixel – that’s perhaps the dumbest idea for online business anyone could have possible come up with. Still, Alex Tew, a 21-year-old who came up with the idea, is now a millionaire.

2. SantaMail
Ok, how’s that for a brilliant idea. Get a postal address at North Pole, Alaska, pretend you are Santa Claus and charge parents 10 bucks for every letter you send to their kids? Well, Byron Reese sent over 200000 letters since the start of the business in 2001, which makes him a couple million dollars richer.

3. Doggles
Create goggles for dogs and sell them online? Boy, this IS the dumbest idea for a business. How in the world did they manage to become millionaires and have shops all over the world with that one? Beyond me.

4. LaserMonks
LaserMonks.com is a for-profit subsidiary of the Cistercian Abbey of Our Lady of Spring Bank, an eight-monk monastery in the hills of Monroe County, 90 miles northwest of Madison. Yeah, real monks refilling your cartridges. Hallelujah! Their 2005 sales were $2.5 million! Praise the Lord.

5. AntennaBalls
You can’t sell antenna ball online. There is no way. And surely it wouldn’t make you rich. But this is exactly what Jason Wall did, and now he is now a millionaire.

6. FitDeck
Create a deck of cards featuring exercise routines, and sell it online for $18.95. Sounds like a disaster idea to me. But former Navy SEAL and fitness instructor Phil Black reported last year sales of $4.7 million. Surely beats what military pays.

7. PositivesDating.Com
How would you like to go on a date with an HIV positive person? Paul Graves and Brandon Koechlin thought that someone would, so they created a dating site for HIV positive folks last year. Projected 2006 sales are $110,000, and the two hope to have 50,000 members by their two-year mark.

8. Designer Diaper Bags
Christie Rein was tired of carrying diapers around in a freezer bag. The 34-year-old mother of three found herself constantly stuffing diapers for her infant son into freezer bags to keep them from getting scrunched up in her purse. Rein wanted something that was compact, sleek and stylish, so in November 2004, she sat down with her husband, Marcus, who helped her design a custom diaper bag that's big enough to hold a travel pack of wipes and two to four diapers. With more than $180,000 in sales for 2005, Christie's company, Diapees & Wipees, has bags in 22 different styles, available online and in 120 boutiques across the globe for $14.99.

9. TruGamerz
Faux-suede padded covers for game controllers and gel thumb pads for analog joysticks? No one will buy that. Forget it. The product proved to be so popular, it got picked up by Target.com and Walmart.com and annual sales new exceed half a million dollars.

10. Lucky Wishbone Co.
Fake wishbones. Now, this stupid idea is just destined to flop. Who in the world needs FAKE PLASTIC wishbones? A lot of people, it turns out. Now producing 30,000 wishbones daily (they retail for 3 bucks a pop) Ken Ahroni, the company founder, expects 2006 sales to reach $1 million.

Take my advice.... I dont need it anywayz

Pluto's out now

The International Astronomical Union have voted to remove Pluto from the solar system--as a planet, that is. The international organization of astronomers rejected a proposal last week to increase the number of planets to 12 by including Ceres, the largest known asteroid, which orbits between Mars and Jupiter; Charon, which has been considered Pluto's moon; and the recently discovered 2003 UB313, an object nicknamed Xena that was discovered in 2005 orbiting far beyond Pluto. Pluto and the other three objects may be considered planet dwarves by astromers.

In February 2006, images from the Hubble Space Telescope confirmed the existence of two new moons orbiting Pluto. Pluto and Charon are gravitationally locked so the same sides always face each other. They orbit each other every 6.3 Earth days. Charon is covered by water ice.
...seem if they allowed Pluto to remain a planet, then too many new objects have to be acknowledged as a planet too taking the number to 20...i suppose 8 is better than 20 too difficult to remember 20 names..
But the weird thing is that the whole Indian astrology is dependent on these nine planets and all the rules are made keeping these nine planets and their positions( in respect to each other at a certain time) and so on .....Now if one planet is removed or a new one added the whole astrology goes fake?

Can't they just let these Astronomical Bodies to R.I.P.

Micro$oft's answer to iPod .... Zune????

I am simply amazed by my IPOD. Not because its a apple product, but becaz of its simplicity and the effect it produces on your ears.It rocks!!!!!. I have a iRiver , but i like my IPOD better. The only thing i feel missing is the radio!!!.But who cares, i still love my IPOD.
And Microsodt is one company that can't stand competition, be it PS2 or IPOD - Micro$oft is releasing a portable MP3 player to compete with the mighty iPod. Its supposed to have some kinda wifi connectivity. No solid info about this product is out yet from Micro$oft. Here are some articles i found

Day Late And Dollar Short

Weak Will

Just when i thought i was going strong on my "will" of being regular to GYM, party season has hit me hard.I workout in the evening and then party harder in the night, thus gaining more than i am loosing.
We just been for lunch at this awesome place called "Hyderabadi house".. wow, the biryani is sooooo damn mouth watering... if you ever come by this place, its highly recommended.
Now that we had our lunch today there and i almost dozzed off a couple of times. thanks to my team , keeping me awake by askin ever so important questions.
I am so dead lazy now, i don't even wanna go near the gym :-) same old mee...
lets see just in case.....

"The world is full of willing people, some willing to work, the rest willing to let them."

The one

You are a CRA (Certified Recruitment Analyst). You have conducted 10 on campus interviews for freshers, tens of walkins and hundreds of off campus recruitment and hundreds of "scheduled interviews". Does this classify you to be an HR?? Well this is impressive, a techie doing all this and the same time i am embarrased to tell this to my friends, they might even think that i switched profiles. All organisational initiatives :-) phew!!! thats a big ask anyways. What a pity and all this at no extra incentives!!!!!
And the saddest part is that this whole interview thingie has rubbed off on me big time, even if i manage to strike a friendly conversation, ppl immediately point that it looks like i am interviewing them :-(
The other day i was trying to strike a deal with a car sales rep and he immediately asked me if i was a manager and did a lot of interviews:-) how'd he know that? thanks to interviews
... oh god .. i need a break :-(

Sucess keeps you Glowing, But only GOD keeps you Going.

Dotgeek PHP Tournament

Thanks to phpdeveloper.org, I came to know about Dotgeek PHP Marathon

Looks pretty interesting, I will register and see if I can solve the problems!

Geek Jargons

The other day I was chatting to one of my friend and I wanted to tell her something like

Your money NOT EQUAL TO my money.

And I wrote,

Your money != My money.

I realized that I am using programming construct ‘!=’ instead of writing ‘not equal to’. Does it have anything to do with the fact that for last 3 days I am coding for 15 hours a day?

When was the last time you used a computer lingo in your conversation with non geek?

Flirtatious Flirt

Its been more than a few years i last flirted :-) . But today i realised i am even better. What a life i have been having -all work and no game.I was getting sick of this and was now equally desperate to do something different.Back then i was in shape( hey, even now i am but the shape is round) and cud easily shift gears while flirting. But then getting to know 2 girls in 3 days time, dropping one to home and exchanging phone numbers with the other!!! wow!! that calls for a real guru in the making. So I second the experts when they say - "form is temporary but class is permanent" heheheh secretly i am just hoping that this phase of time continues to be so... if not anything i can train the younger batch :-)

"Girl are you tired, cuz youve been running through my mind all day"

Lucky Transition

I have been blogging for some time now and also got regular at this. How i wish i could get regular visiting the GYM!!. Well i don;t know why, but i am feeling lucky today , so i thought about doing two things - change my blog link( my previous blog is linked) and also religiously work out at the GYM.
Not that the old blog was bad, I am a Google guy :-) so i made a transition to this blogsite.I like the idea of being able to share my findings, ideas and opinions about Technology, life and everything under the sun in an open forum that encourages dialogue and what more than Google? isn;t it rightly called GOD (Google oriented Development)

The first is done, so i am heading straight to GYM now:-)
